The undecided buyer

The undecided buyer (UB) is a human specimen who can't make up his mind to buy or not to buy, but he does in the last minute. The UB is habit to insult Murphy in his thoughts because of his law. Don't want to meet one UB. Be warned, you can find one in special dates like Christmas.

Be careful.

Surge voltage protector

This is the thing I have been making this afternoon:

It is supposed to protect electronic stuff from surges, and I hope it works. In reality, I have never had a machine broken by overvoltage, but it looked a good and cheap project to build, so here it is.

Music for Sunday night #77

I was listening the album by Negative I commented in previous posts when, in the end, it started to sound one song I almost forget. Very famous and beautiful one. I remember it was posted in another edition of Music for Sunday night but, who minds? Enjoy.

The end

Six minutes left to the end of the world (at least here).
The world won't end until I see RHCP in concert, I won't let it happens.

Endless quarter

Here we are. This quarter doesn't want to finish and I need holidays. We don't work so hard to deserve them, but you know you get a pair of Christmas holiday weeks and your mind wants them to come.

The marking system continues strict like past year. The marks have become worse and, although you know it is usual at this stage, you don't feel as confident as usual.

There are subjects that are scheduled in your course just for f*cking you. I know people who agree with me.

We shouldn't complain because we're lucky, but today I'll do it.

PS: There are stupid lazy teachers, I hope someone reads this, who don't want to stop pupils cheating. Don't care about that. Pupils who cheat pass the exams with good marks (f*cking suspicious marks), they are not sillier for cheating because some exams contents are stupid and unnecessary ever more. Meanwhile, honest people get low marks and are penalized (and fail).

What is the reward it is supposed I get for not cheating?

Music for Sunday night #76

Tonight, we'll listen to this band I have almost forgotten. However, a couple of days ago I found it in my music folder. I'd say this is a band that you can enjoy listening. Enjoy.

B2, I GOT YOU.

YES! I GOT IT!

My  paper said I would get the result by December 20th, but I get it today! I've just got it! And I've passed!
The objective is reached. And now what?
Let me enjoy it.

Music for Sunday night #75

This week has been a boring one (and I guess, the next will be the same), however I've been re-discovering the album "Pulse" by Pink Floyd, and I'd like to show to you another great special song (as last Sunday one) of this CD. Enjoy.

Music for Sunday night #74

Tonight we'll listen to the song I've listened most in this week. Here it is, by Pink Floyd. Enjoy.

Jazz day

On Saturday I was in a jazz course. It started at 10 in the morning and finished at 9:30 in the afternoon, and it was a good experience.

When I arrived to the place in the morning I felt the most sleepy person in the class. The professional pianist who taught us asked for the drummer and I answered and sat to the drum set. At the beginning I felt very good, because I spoke to him about my incapacity for reading drum scores and surprisingly he told me that they were stupid and I won't needed them. Great!

Half an hour later I was playing drums with the band composed by the other people in the class. In the half an hour before this, the teacher gave to the class some theory rules, although there were nothing about that for drums. I have to affirm that for drummers there were nothing to learn in that course, (although you will know why I considered it was worthwhile taking it).

Well, as I was saying, I was playing drums, when another drummer arrived. Oh... I had to guess it... So I played one song more and I had to leave.

When I went out at lunch time for a rest I was quite upset with the organisation or something. Attention is never paid to percussion musicians. There is no problem with other musicians but, you can't pretend that two drummers enjoy together, never ever.

Anyway, although some partners left after lunch, I didn't give up.

In the afternoon, we (the drummers) decided that we had to distribute the sheets music and we did. Until 7 o'clock we rehearsed the songs and the teacher gave us some theory lessons again.

At 7 pm, the course finished and at 8, we had to show the progress of the day by organising a concert. In it, I played the first song, the other drummer the second and the following 5 or 6 songs were played by the teacher's band in order to show to the public how was his project and how beautiful will be making a jazz association in my area. I were visited by some friends unexpectedly, who saw my performance.
At that point I was happy of my playing. I was the first one, I enjoyed myself, I improvised, I played a difficult pattern with success, and finally the public clapped. Well done, and better than expected.

Later, the teacher's band played 5 or 6 songs. They sounded very good and different. The drums part was not which most called my attention, otherwise I liked others instruments such as tenor sax.
In that band was a female singer too, who was without a doubt the star of the concert. And she deserved that because she sang wonderful and played the guitar too. And moreover she studied biology at the same time she dealt with the band rehearsals.

And that was all. I didn't really learn anything however it was a good way to spend the day, (even though I don't want to remember I couldn't sleep until late on a Saturday...).

Music for Sunday night #73

Tonight, we'll listen to a song that has been in my mind during all the week. The song is another one from the RHCP's B-sides, but this time is not from the last album, otherwise it was released in "Stadium Arcadium". Enjoy.

20th

Everything is done. Every paper written and every listening listened. There weren't little possibilities about doing the four tests well, and I didn't do well all of them.

The thing is, as I've said this morning to my English partner, that you can complete reasonably well a exam, but you don't feel it is well done unless you do it perfectly. So, I maybe get a good mark, however until the result releasing date I'll continue feeling unsure.

PS: Of course, if I get a good mark, I'll shout it here in the blog.

Friday, November 9, 2012

A few words

In the exact moment I am typing this there are 12 hours to go before the exam starts. Tomorrow I'm taking a small part but difficult of the whole paper, but every mark counts. On Saturday I'm taking the big part.

There is really nothing more to write about this. So, dear readers, wish me luck. I'll post something before the big exam.

Update:
The first part was brilliant! Better than expected.

One week or less

That is the time to the exams. I'll be taking them the next Friday and Saturday. I'll write a post before doing it.

Music or...

Engineering or music. That's the question I'll always ask me. Should I continue with the idea of study a good career and become a good engineer?, or should I consider the possibility of becoming a drummer? What's about the second option?
It is difficult to make a success in that. If you want to take that way you have work hard to be someone in the future, but I am sure if you do, if you decide to be the best playing drums, even doing this, your future is like flipping a coin. Of course, you will have lots of possibilities of success if you do it, but the same probability of loosing.

By the way, this post is because of a quote by Confucius what said:

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

He and his quote were which put me to think...

Anyway, I think I'll continue thinking that it is possible to be either an engineer or a drummer although I don't know any case.

The Mac OS Project.

Yesterday, I found a manual to install Mac OS in an Intel PC. I had seen articles about this before, but it was complicated and the PC's required very special components. However, the last manual I discovered was simple and I tried it.

I spent all the afternoon trying to make a bootable USB instead of burning the iso file in a DVD, but that wasn't possible at all. I gave it up and used DVD. Then I installed it. The installation lasted 2 hours more or less and then I got it! It worked.

Of course there were several things that didn't work properly, for example the sounds and the USB's, but although I was sure I could fix it I didn't do. It was just a trial, not forever and I didn't want to modify the BIOS.

Here is the proof:

Mac OS X 10.4 running on my Intel P4

PS: Later, I broke it. I installed a system update an Mac didn't start again.

My trombone progress

(I know I am not very good at putting good titles to my posts, but...)

I've had to come to my blog to find out when I post the first post about my new instrument so that I can remember when I started playing it. Well, it was approximately 20 days ago.
This afternoon, if I am not wrong, I've taken my fourth trombone class, (and I can say my sound has been awful...). But it doesn't matter, the point I want to come is that in less than a month I've learnt quite a lot and this afternoon I've been given the band scores which I will play in one or two weeks, I hope.
Do you realise? That's great!

I don't feel very proud yet, but I'll do in a couple of weeks when I play those scores...

300th post

As the title says, this is my 300th post in this blog. Amazing. I want to use this particular post to say happy birthday to the master of whom who you can find a photo in the right side of the blog at any time.

Happy birthday Chad Smith! I hope you rock with us for many many years.

The man who made his own "Ipad"

In these 3 videos, we can see how a man build his own Ipad in fast motion. Obviously the result is not the same thing you can buy in an Apple Store, however it is really good. And, of course we can't forget all the personal satisfaction involved in this incredible project.

Music for Sunday night #69

Tonight we'll listen to a song I found in the middle of the week. This is a good version of 'Nothing Else Matters', originally by Metallica, but this time covered by Lucie Silvas, a woman with a nice voice. It is worth listening to this. Enjoy.

The highest jump

Great record for Felix Baumgartner! The man who pretended to break the sound barrier and a three more achievements has made history. Fantastic new for science lovers. Congratulations!

This is the new song by Adele especially made for the new James Bond's film, Skyfall. I don't know if today has been the releasing date, but the complete song doesn't have much time online. Really a beautiful song. Enjoy.

Future and optimism

This morning, I've assisted to a conference call "The future in our hands". With that name, I didn't know very well what I would be told there, but it looked interesting.

In the conference room have had lots of students and the place has been very well conditioned. In general terms the speech has been quite interesting, with not many news but with lots of optimism about the future.

The ideas raised have made me think for a moment. The man who has spoken, told us about new projects, like Google car, Google glasses, an experiment where a mouse brain's memory part had been substituted for a flash memory...

The thing that has been impossible to forget in the end has been that the future is for us and for the technology, science, engineering..., however, my dear Art friends hardly will take part in it.

The new project

As many friends of mine know, I've started a new project, and I have to post it here as an official statement. I've decided to learn how to play the trombone, (exactly the tenor one, the usual one).
Yes, I have.

I haven't made my mind to do that overnight, otherwise I've been thinking about that since several weeks ago. If I haven't started before is because I have to cope with my studies and I was afraid the music takes all my mind, but I've realised it is now or never. Moreover, I don't want to waste my learning ease now I'm young, and that's what I'd been doing whether I let scape this opportunity. I guess I'll be able to deal with both things.

I've been very lucky for a few reasons really. Fortunately I haven't had to buy a trombone because I am a member of a musical association and they have one to lend me. I haven't neither had to buy even "trombone grease" or other thing, because all was included. Furthermore, my instrument is amazingly in very good conditions and looks excellent! (unlike other instruments to borrow). And the best is it has something called "transpositor", one function that will make easier my work. Here is a picture for you:

The last Friday I took my first class. My teacher had one little initiation book ready for me (great detail), so I started learning that day. Of course I finished the class with homework.

By now, I know 3 out of 7 positions and 3 notes: F, D# and D. I've been practising hard until I've achieved a good sound. I can't wait to take the next class on next Thursday. I need to learn more, I don't have any extra time, only the exact months and I will have to learn how to play band scores with it by then either way.

In The End, Piano cover. (Music for Sunday night #67)

Tonight I want to show you my piano work. In a previous post I told you I was working in a cover of one song by Linkin Park. It was "In The End", and I said I'd upload a video when I'd be ready. Well, the moment has came.

Here is my modest Linkin Park cover, for piano. Don't be harsh with me. I am just a beginner! Enjoy.

New PC

Last Saturday three PCs came to my hands. As usual, they needed to be fixed. The first two machines wasn't for me, the reparation was easy and soon they were working, so I gave them back to their owner. But the third computer was for my use..

It didn't have neither the necessary components to work. A week before that Saturday, my computer was almost broken and slowly, and finally that day just didn't work. So, it was about time to work.

Of course, I thought about fixing my PC and not consider the other, because, as I've said, it was very incomplete. The surprise came when I tried to run it to check the system specs. The PC had a Pentium 4, 3 Ghz, 1 Gb of  RAM and a good mother board with AGP slot.

I liked that, so I used my computer to complete the other. I needed the power supply, the reader units and the sound card. Besides an additional HD and a graphic card.

Then, I had to do the worst part. I downloaded the drivers, installed all my programs, did all the configurations, customize the Windows interface, and copy my files from my old HDs.
I've just noticed how easy is writing it, but this took me the whole Sunday and Monday, and I did all in record time.

Now I'm writing this from the mentioned PC of which I feel proud. Moreover, it's INCREDIBLY quick, even with all my apps installed. I did't hope so much speed. By the way, I can feel the heat which proceeds from the processor. It will be good in Winter.

I hope the computer works well for many years, and I also hope not to broke more DDR memories. (I'm having 6 bad DDRs on my desktop, all broken in record time, I'm surprised).

Saturday, September 22, 2012

It starts with: One thing.

The other day I watched a cover of "What I have done" by Linkin Park in youtube, for piano. It sounded very good and later I thought about doing one version of other song. Moreover, I almost didn't use my piano keyboard and it was time to try something new.

I chose "In the end", by the same band, as you know, mainly because I've always loved this song and I know it perfectly.

It was the first time I wanted to do a good cover. So I accepted that this wouldn't be a one-day project. I wanted it to be as accurate as possible, so I kept at least, the same original tone.

I spent several hours working and the result was very good, although every day I add small details. By the way, I did it by ear, like the majority of covers, and futhermore it is so much quicker and more pleasant than deal with sheet music.

Now, I'm practising it every day so that I can record it some day. Because by now I can't play it without errors. Maybe in a couple of weeks you have a video posted. Or maybe still not.

The silly week

For some reason I feel obligated to write a post about the new beginning. Moreover, I have to this is a good practice for my writing exam I'll do tomorrow.

The thing is easy to describe. We've started. A few people with resignation and calmness, and other people with too much will and happiness. I think I am in a boring period of time. At this moment I have almost any doubt about what to do next. It's just walk the way quietly and all will be alright. I will continue waiting, the day will come.

Meanwhile, we'll try to get to the Saturday of this silly week safe and sound. But before leaving, I have to repeat one of the first ideas I posted on this blog's beginnings:

<You realise the time goes quickly when you look back, but if you look at the present you don't feel so.>

(Not applicable to holidays), hahaha.

Music for Sunday night #63

Tonight, we will listen to this nice song by 'The Cranberries'. Just my imagination. Enjoy.

Miracles exist

This is the second part of the post 'The worst day of my life”. Please, read it before.

In that instance, suddenly my computer was turned off and reset, and my phone emitted a beep. I thought “I haven't done anything”. My computer was restarting and my phone was off. You can imagine how I felt. WTF! I turned on my phone, IT WORKED!!! F*CKING MIRACLES EXITS!!! But it was strange because some things of my phone company was there yet. I checked my FW version, it probably was the same, not updated. But not! It was the new version! My phone company stuff was there yet, but the last step was undone.

I seriously thought 'Well, It now works. I'm the luckiest man in the world. The phone did things it shouldn't have done, it was almost death. I really think this has been a casualty and there is no explanation. I'm the luckiest man in the whole world again. And now, should I do the last step or it is better to be quiet?” I didn't want to think too much, I wanted to finish the procedure well.

The last step was doing a 'hard reset'. It would delete all my data but also the phone company's. I had to enter a code and I did it. With that code, the factory settings were activated, but no more. I thought the code was wrong and I looked for another one on the internet. Another way of doing a 'hard reset' was switching off the phone and pressing 4 buttons at the same time. Pressing them all was not easy...

The phone started to work and this time all had been deleted. Lots of suffering but I had gotten a new phone, quickly as race cars and unlocked.

By the way, the trivial problems (that maybe weren't so trivial has been solved). Now, I've spent almost a day configuring and restoring everything, and I feel like I have a new phone, much better than before for all the work done and the time spent. I'm a happy man.

The worst moment of my life

Introduction:

A couple of weeks ago I got my mobile phone unlocked. Then I could use any mobile company SIM. Later, I realised my phone didn't have any company logo or sticker. This is something very unusual to my mind. Then, I thought 'Could I do something with my phone's firmware in order to get the original system as I was bought my phone unlocked?' This made me stay researching for a couple of days and then I got the answer.

The worst moment of my life:

The other day I spent the worst moment of my life. I wanted to update my Nokia N85's firmware, so almost a week before, I had been getting information about the process, fails, problems, results... The data I had gotten, mainly from forums, wasn't look very well. Lots of fails, a few solutions, different ways to do the procedure... It's also true that, generally, in forums is where people post problems, so that may be the explanation of why I found so many.

With all that, besides being encouraged by a friend of mine, some trivial problems that maybe can be solved and a lot of free time, I proceed to update my device.

The first step was changing the 'product code'. It is a code of numbers which indicates if the phone is unlocked originally or if it has been modified by some phone company. I changed it with no troubles, then my phone was an original one and not one bought through a phone company.

The next step was update the firmware with the Nokia's pc software 'Nokia Software Updater'. Simply. I had many problems with the connection between the phone and the software. Firstly, it didn't connect well. Secondly, the software order me to connect the phone direct to an USB port and not through a HUB. In the end, it worked. Later the software tried to update my phone but the assistant crashed. My phone display was white, then it was reset and then a white screen with letters. My worst moment was starting.

I did it at least 10 times and my phone did the same things: White screen > Reset > White screen with letters. I was frightened!!! The assistant always crashed. Before crashing it said to me that the screen would be firstly white and then the phone would be reset, BUT NOTHING ABOUT THE FUCK*NG WHITE SCREEN OF THE DEATH!!! You can see how horrible was this screen:

It is ugly and scary!

I was terribly frightened. I tried to calm down with some relaxing music and I left the phone connected with that screen while I searched some help. Lots of people like me but any solution, shit. I browsed a link I kept saved. It was about another way to update my Nokia from the start, but not with official programs and it looked quite difficult and very aggressive with the phone. I would need several programs and I downloaded them.

I was trying to understand the manual when something happened!!!

(Continue in the next post).

Diary of a day without internet 4

Saturday. August 18th, the last night.

Another morning getting up early. The first stop has been in a market. Apart from other stalls, I've seen one where music CDs were being sold. I don't know how their owners earn the life having downloads or better shops than them. That's really a mystery for me.

Later, I had to manage mobile phone's things, so I've arrive to the place but the f*cking department which see to phones doesn't work on Saturdays! So, one hour travelling wasted.

By the way, I’ve seen for first time the bulb by Philips which is supposed to work during 25 years. Here is a picture:

Going back, I wanted to stop in a reservoir, but several gates had been installed and they were closed. Moreover, now you have to pay if you want to go through them. Another waste of time.

Tonight, I don't want to forget to say happy birthday to two friends tomorrow, although they born today, but I can't establish any connection with them from here.

In about a half an hour, I'm turning on my Play Station and enjoying like all nights. Tomorrow, I'm going back home. Don't loose the next post of 'Music for Sunday night'!

Diary of a place without internet 3

Friday, August 17th

After all the night playing with my Play Station, getting up has been hard, even at 2:30 pm.

At 5 o'clock we have arrived to the beach. The beach choice has been a hard match, which I haven't won. In fact, out of 3 possibilities, my parents have made the worst choice to my mind.

The afternoon in the beach has been nothing special. We have swum, eaten, and all those stuff. Particularly, I have made an attempt of reading, but the beach was too noisy. I have also listened to some RHCP's songs there with my MP3 player and my headphones (this was something that I wanted to do). Later I have decided to do the third of fourth attempt of configuring my MP3 player equaliser, and I've GOT IT!!! I usually configure the equalisers of each device with which I listen to music, because with the time, I've ended getting better sound quality than using pre-configured sets. However, I hadn't got to configure my Philips Player's equaliser successfully yet. It has been quite grateful.

Now, I am not hungry and it's 11:30 pm, but I should eat something, and then I plan to spend the night playing video games again.

Diary of a place without internet 2

Wednesday, August 15th

The first night out  my home. This morning I've gotten up early, too early, not sleeping enough but I wanted to have a big drums session before leave. My family are not used to make plans with a watch, so there is no way to organise anything with them. I hate it. Although, fortunately, I've no problem with playing drums for a long time.

One hour after going in the car, we'd arrived. I've put Kari, my dear guitar, leaned on a wall outside while I was opening the house doors and someone said to me, she had fallen to the ground. Oh, shit!!! I've checked it and all was right, but I feel that crash in my heart yet.

With 35 Celsius degrees outside, I had to participate in the worst thing I am going to do here. We have gone to the hills and I had to work as a farmer. Pick almonds is the f*cking worst thing in the world, although it hadn't been the first time. In the end of the afternoon, we have postponed the work for tomorrow and I've re-checked again I am totally allergic to almond tree with a beautiful rash in my arm.

Some minutes ago, I've watched in one of the little channels that work here, one film trailer which has surprised me. The film has been “The Expendables 2”, and I can say that the first film wasn't very good. (If you don't know, in these films converge several top actors). However, I was totally surprised because of the cast. The actors involved are INCREDIBLE!!! In the trailer I could see: Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, CHUCK NORRIS and JASON STATHAM!!! It's amazing! Isn't it?

Now, I should go to bed. I must be waked up in over 5 hours.

Diary of a place without internet

This, dear reader, was written four days ago:

I'm afraid I haven't had any chance of changing the future of my next four days. I'm going to be in a place in the countryside with no internet connection, where I am not going to be able to do many things I usually do. So I thought about write a little diary of what I do and more..., and here it is.

Wake up!

Curiously, this morning I've been waken up by a pair of carpenters who were setting up a wardrobe in a room next to my bedroom. The thing is that one of them has turned on the radio and the first song aired has been CALIFORNICATION!!! From the beginning of the song! Nice wake up.

Test papers

Today is the day when I have to start with these papers again. I can see the end of this long learning period, although anything is sure and no one knows how I will finish.

I hope these test go well.

Film review: Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes is a film from 2009 starring by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

The woman of the film is Rachel McAdams, a beautiful woman.

Some times if somebody strongly recommend you a film maybe is not the best for your enjoyment, because you hope to watch such a great film, and this is the case.

Things that I like:

- Great argument as it was hoped.
- Good characters. Especially the main actor.
- Good action scenes.
- At the end of the film there isn't any loose end.

Things that I don't like:

- To my mind I hoped a bit more of the argument. (Sometimes predictable).
- Obviously, the film is set in the past, and I knew it, but even though, I wish it had taken place in the present.

This is not a bad film. In fact, I want to watch the second part soon. So, great film.

RATING: 7,5

Music for Sunday night #59

Tonight we'll listen to a live song by Sting. This is "Englishman in New York" live from Italy. Very beautiful sounds and improvisations. I particularly like this video. Enjoy.

Cook mother

My mother is a good cook.

If I can get the music sheet, I can play the song. If she gets the recipe, she can cook it (and then I eat it).
The last week she made three chocolates cake, but I decided to eat it instead of take a photo, however, this aftenoon, she has cooked DONUTS! And I have a photograph taken! Check it out:

Umm... I wish it were tomorrow morning to eat them for breakfast...

RHCP's decoration for my bedroom

The last week I decided to make something so that my bedroom looked more RHCP, overall, because I only had a sticker with the logo and that is no way enough to make me feel better in my dear room.

So, I made a good job with wood, paint, nylon, glue and tools. And this is the result:

I made two things to hang them in the walls. This is the first one which I love and which I carefully set in my bed's wall.

And this is the second one. At the beginning, I doubted between two designs, but I did a little survey to my friends and this one won.

Now, I feel good when I observe them. I think it was a good project.

Music for Sunday night #57

Tonight we'll listen to this song by "Train". I discovered it thanks to a TV commercial which called my attention. This song's name is "Drive by" and is very powerful and nice for the ears. Moreover, this is the official video, and I recommend to you to watch it because is very good (and with great cars). Enjoy.

Maybe other day we'll listen to other versions because everyone is good for "Music for Sunday night". Now, enjoy.

Drums tuning

Yesterday, I tuned my drums. They really needed a well tuning.

I had to change the place where I play, so I thought about make some improves. I had to set again all the drums, of course. This time I think the ride and the 2nd tom are better placed than before. But before that, I spent about one hour and a half for tuning.

I never remember the number of twists I have to give to the screws, but I rather think, it's wrong to set a determined number. Firstly, I took the snare. (By the way, the next time I tune it, I should put some lubricant to a screw very hard to turn). I hope my snare support so much pressure as I've done the screws support. The heads are really tight this time, and that's better for playing.

Next, I took the first tom. I tuned it to the tone which I think it had been designed for, although it didn't sound like a tom, otherwise like a drum, but I left it to contrast with the others ones later.

The second tom sounded like a good tom once I tuned it, and I tuned the floor tom to the tone it was designed for. Although, the tuning was perfect, I hated the sound. The distance between tones was right, but I like a low tone. So I tried to put down the tuning and at the end I got it.

It wasn't easy. The top head had to be loose to get a tom impact sound, and the bottom tight to keep a high tone. The problem is that if you tune the top low and the tom needs to sound high, you need to tune the bottom very tight because you have to change doubly the tension in the bottom head to get the right tone than if you look for the right tone tuning the top one.

The second tom was easier, although the method was the same. And then, the floor tom heads was tuned very  low both of them. Later I tune the bass drum, I didn't really like how I tuned it, but I didn't how what bass drum sound I want, so I tried to do a good job with it.

Once, I tuned everything, I set the pedals.I didn't attain to adjust them well. I've tried to do it during all these weeks, several times, and I haven't strangely got it. I don't know what is wrong..., maybe the pedals, or the bass head...

It was time to set everything. All was set in a better place than before, ready to do a test. And I did it and did it and did it. I couldn't stop. Finally, I was proud of my job. Over all with the toms! They sounded amazing!

Now I can't wait to play again.

Film review: Drive.

Drive is a film from 2011 about a Driver who works for robbers, obviously driving cars. One day, he accepts to work for someone to protect his love's life, but all goes wrong.

The film is starring by Ryan Gosling, and the woman of the film is Carey Mulligan.

I have to say that the trailer shows a film different from this one. It was totally different from I was expecting it to be...

Things that I like:

- It's a film where the cars are important.
- It works to spend an afternoon.
- ...

Things that I don't like:

- The end is awful. It is not happy and incomplete.
- The protagonist looks intelligent but he's terribly quiet, a expressionless character, who seems to act in slow motion.
- Quiet film, barely with no excitement neither frights.
- I definitively don't like the main actor.
- Good argument (in fact it's a book), but poor develop of it.
- No good love story.
- Only a few characters in the film.
- 90 minutes of duration. 45 of them wasted in boring scenes.
- Poor film. I want to think that it is because of a low budget.

If there is no way to see another action film, you can watch this one. I think it's better than I imagine. Anyway, don't you ever think about believe in IMDB, because it is a stupid page and if you believe in its ratings and not in the mine ones, you won't go to heaven.

RATING: 6.5

Film review: Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

MI Ghost Protocol is a great film from 2011. The argument is traditional as in previous MI films. In this one, the protagonist and his team have to capture a terrorist who has got launch codes for nuclear weapons, but he escapes and the team have to avoid that a nuclear missile reaches its objective once it's been launched.

The film is starring by Tom Cruise mainly, although his team is very important too. The woman of the film is Paula Patton.

Things that I like:

- Good actors.
- Great argument, although complex.
- This film makes your heart beat quickly all the time.
- In this film, BMW presents an hybrid car, it's BMW i8 which is beautiful. This is a detail that I like very much. Click in the button to see a picture.
- Lots of technology. It's essential in the film. The gadgets used are incredible, although they aren't real, but their running is well thought out and it isn't difficult to imagine them in the real life.
- Good team job.
- No loose ends.
- Good end.

Things that I don't like:

- It seems to be a love story, but it isn't. Paula Patton, the woman team partner and Tom should have had a love story and all would have been better!
- It'd have been well more car scenes.
- The argument is good but quite complicated.

I really enjoyed this film. It's very good, very good. I'll repeat again that when you watch this film your heart beats very quickly all the time. It's very excited. I recommend it.

Film review: Killer Elite

Killer Elite is a film from 2011 about a professional killer whose mission is to do away with three criminals who killed three important people, and all the deaths must seem accidents.

The film is starring by the great Jason Statham and the well-known Robert De Niro. And the woman of the film is the beautiful Yvonne Strahovski.

I liked the trailer, but I was told a bad opinion. However, I don't think so. Here is my personal view:

Things that I like:

- Mr. Statham is in the film. Moreover, Mr. De Niro too.
- This is an action film.
- There is a love story, and the woman is very beautiful.
- There aren't loose ends in the argument.
- The protagonist is intelligent and you are never overwhelm with the argument because he looks shrewd and always knows what to do.

Things that I don't like:

- I'd have liked more cars in this film.
- The love story is too much in the background.
- Several protagonist's friends die.
- The argument is a bit stupid.

And that's all. I recommend this film. If you want to spend an hour and a half, I think you would enjoy watch this instead a comedy. This film is quite good.

RATING: 8.5/10

About the moment

- The blog is abandoned because I have no time, and I'll have less next week.
- People who go off. They'll always have a place in my heart.
- I've been obliged to accept someone's friend request. I've had to get all the information about Facebook privacy methods (which are quite flexible), to keep this person out of my FB life. Nowadays, FB is not a place where modern people sign in and where to upload shabby family photos! It's more important than that. It's very important to your social life, which is very important nowadays. (Person to whom I'm writing this, I'd nice whether you leave FB, please).
- I've discovered that tiredness is my fellow traveller.
- ...
- I like drums.

The new Ipad

A couple of moths ago, I had a chance to try the new Ipad.

All we realised when it was released, although this wasn't as important as when Ipad 2 was put on the market. For some people like me, there aren't many important changes between the New and the previous one. However, if any change was important, it was the famous retina display.

I couldn't have an Ipad 2 in one hand and try to compare the displays, so I can't speak about the improves on it. Moreover, I am sure, it would be very difficult to elaborate a verdict because both displays are really good.

But there is one thing with which I got surprised. The graphics processor of the new Ipad is amazing. Pictures look great thanks to the display, but the transition between menus is even better, it's real! You can put a piece of paper on a desk and move it with your fingers and that's what you feel when you browse menus, the reality.

I tried to load this blog in the Ipad browser and that's how it looked:

Yes, not a very good view, but it worked.

I also wanted to show you how is the menu transitions, so I captured this (I had no idea about what to do neither where to touch, but you can see the effects of the menus quite good):

Music for Sunday night #50

Tonight is the 50th edition of Music for Sunday night, and I'm glad to announce it. I've brought for this special edition, a special song. This performance is a part of Inception soundtrack. I think it's magic. There is lots of technology and musicians working together to get these sounds. It's great, I love it. Moreover, the master who composed the score was Hans Zimmer, for me, the most versatile composer I've ever seen. So, if you have 20 minutes, please watch the video and they will be the most amazing minutes of your day.

Note: The performance starts at 8 minutes. It's better you watch from here.

Tuning fails

Cars are one of the most beautiful machines invented by men. The design of these is very important and people like to drive a cool car. If we don't like our cars and we have no money to buy another, we can customize them. There are two kinds of visual modifications.

1.- You can pimp your car in an elegant way, or with small but important modifications.
2.- Or you can make your car unique, colourful and eye-catching.

Well, there is another kind of tuning, where cars seems terrible!!! These are TUNING FAILS!
(I really enjoy myself watching these pictures, lol)

I feel sorry for this one

Oh man!!! What is that f*ck? (There is a man inside!)

Nice seats! They can't be bad seats if they have been made by Recaro, can they?

Beatbox + Flute

I'm surprised! There are infinite things that you can find in Youtube. Today, a friend of mine tweeted this video. It's amazing!

There are also more videos of beatboxing and playing an instrument at the same time, for example, an harmonica which seems to be quite popular, but I prefer a flute.

Music for Sunday night #49

I've waited all the week to show you this song! It's amazing! I love alternative rock!
Here is "Where the dead ships dwell" by "In Flames". Turn up the volume! Enjoy.

Film review: The Italian Job

The Italian Job is an amazing film from 2003 which a friend of mine recommended to me. Otherwise I hadn't watched it, because it's a bit old.

This film is mainly starring by Mark Wahlberg y Charlize Theron, although there are three or four more actors that I would call them protagonists too. Let's see what I  think about it:

Thing that I like:

- My favourite aspect is the argument. It's really amazing. There are several moments in which your heart explodes because of the adrenaline. It's very good.
- Good actors. Each one is perfect for his role.
- There are good car scenes.
- Not predictible argument.
- The great Jason Statham appears in the film and does a good job.
- There is a love story, although is in the background.
- The woman of the love story, Charlize (Stella), is beautiful.
- In the great argument, there aren't any moments  that make you suffer.
- Happy end.

Things that I don't like:

- Jason Statham appears but he's one of the "secondary protagonists", he's not one of the main protagonist!!!... I don't like that at all.
- In the beginning there are some loose ends.

In conclusion, I think this film is amazing, and it's been difficult for me to find another bad point besides the first one. I recommend it.

Film review: Real Steel

I saw this film yesterday. Although, it's from 2011, it's already advertised in TV. And, well, it's my verdict:

In Real Steel, a little kid and his father control robots in boxing fights. The film is starring by Hugh Jackman, and the woman of the story is Evangeline Lilly. They are both nice actors, although I've never seen them previously.

Because of the repeated adds, I thought the film would be amazing but it wasn't.

Things that I like:

- The story takes place in the future. (I don't remember exactly when, but years, such as 2017, are mentioned).
- There is lots of technology in the scenes, in the machines...
- Happy end.

Things that I don't like:

- The protagonist is really unlucky, he suffers bad things during all the film.
- The kid is as irritating as a pain in the b*lls. I hate him.
- The love story between the man and the woman stay in the background, because of the father-son love holds the the foreground.
- There is a lot of action but I had to wait to the end to experiment a bit of emotion.
- Good argument, but bad used.
- Predictable argument.

In conclusion, I found the film quite weak, I hoped a great film.

By the way, those people who don't know about films and rate films incorrectly, you know, I'm referring to IMDb users. Well, those people have rated the film with a good mark, 7!!!! 0.4 more than Pirates of the Caribbean 4!!! What is what people over there is smoking???? They have no idea!

Finally:

RATING: 6.5/10

Thoughts

I've realised that my main idea about writing a blog was to tell my thoughts, and reflexions in long posts, writing the same idea along the whole text... You know, those things which young people usually think. But now, I 'm happy for not be able to write about that and therefore, for not write about it.

Those things are boring!!!!!! And blogs with that are boring!!!!! Do all novice bloggers want to write about he same?...

Anyway, I won't do that, I hope, so here is English Drummer, a different blog.

New design

"You are reading English Drummer Ver. 3.0" has been added to the bottom of the blog. This is the new look of this space. What do you think?

I love design, so, always I can, I pretend to be up to date in this aspect. This change has good and bad sides. The blog load seems a bit slower and the general aspect is a bit more overelaborate, although there aren't any new element. With this look the text maybe lost some importance too. However, I think this better aspect is enough to offset the bad characteristics. Anyway, I can always remove the template later.
I wanted to introduce something of black colour but I didn't know how. Later, when I thought Blogger needed new templates to choose, I've discovered this one.

It would be really perfect if objects corners were square and not rounded. Would I be able to change it?... I think not...

Well, enjoy.

UPDATE

Oh, dawn! I'm a f*cking God of HTML! I got it!
I didn't change the rounded corners for square ones because it didn't looks fine, however now the corners are almost square but not totally. I like it.
